Comparing Different Social Media Management Tools
I've reached a point where I have so many different projects that it's becoming time-consuming to craft various social media posts for different industries.
There are multiple social media management (SMM) tools that look promising. I was just about to sign up with Social Pilot and/or onlyWire. I used to use Hootesuite 5-10 years ago. But since then, there are new platforms worthy of testing before deciding if I'll return to Hootsuite.
Let's see...
Most important features (for me):
- Schedule posts up to a month in advance
- Interactive visual calendar
- Schedule posts for multiple accounts & platforms (at least 10)
- Schedule posts with all the same capabilities provided as if submitting directly through the source, ie: checklists, surveys, carousels, img alts, etc.
Features I don't need but am interested in:
- Ai capabilities
- Post grading & critiquing tools
- Send DMs via the SMM platform
- Bulk scheduling
- Has an affiliate program or white-label option
- Chrome Extension
Social Media Management Tools Tested:
Including monthly & yearly price (for my scenario); clients, businesses, personal, tests, etc. So, pricing may vary depending on your specific needs. Some platforms work best for a single brand, especially if budget is not a factor. However, sometimes I need to run multiple brands on the same platforms. Or one brand may be on 8 platforms while another may only be on 2.
- Content Studio - Robust set of features (29, 348)
- CoSchedule - Loves AI - (29, 228)
- Later - Listening & Content creation (##, 640)
- OnlyWire - Great for volume, 19 networks (10, 60)
- SocialPilot - Awesome interface - (50, 510)
- Story Chief - Content marketing option looks interesting (##, 468)
To save time and avoid signing up at 6 different platforms, I'm going to narrow it down to 2-4 platforms, simply based on cost & features (bang-for-buck). Down to Content Studio, CoSchedule, OnlyWire, Social Pilot, and Story Chief.
Order of Favorites Before Testing:
- CoSchedule - Reminds me of notion. But built around a calendar with the most features & other products + affiliate program.
- Only Wire - Add a feed and it will autopost to all your networks $5/mo Annually. This could be a fantastic supplementary service.
- Story Chief - Really interested in content marketing plan. Could supplement my content syndication programs. + has affiliate
- Social Pilot - has review generation, white-label interface option, calendar, & integrate with many platforms.
- Content Studio - Reels/shorts & carousel scheduling, calendar, but pricey. + affiliate program

As of now, I'm thinking it's still going to be OnlyWire & SocialPilot. But Story Chief could beat SocialPilot given its content marketing plan.
If any of the tools have RSS automation like Onlywire, it might automatically win this whole comparison.
Story Chief is out. Not a fan of their affiliate marketing language. One of the only ones without RSS automation and lacks many tools the others have.

After a ton of research and before even testing any. I narrowed it down to Content Studio, Social Pilot & OnlyWire. Here's a pretty-accurate unbiased AI summary:
START AI-GENERATED CONTENT
Feature Set: Content Studio and Social Pilot offer the most comprehensive feature sets, covering content creation, curation, scheduling, and analytics. CoSchedule stands out with its marketing calendar focus, while OnlyWire provides a more basic set of features. Story Chief excels in integrations and collaboration tools.
Unique Strengths:
- Content Studio: AI-powered content creation tools
- CoSchedule: Marketing calendar and ReQueue feature
- OnlyWire: Wide range of supported platforms at a low cost
- Social Pilot: Bulk scheduling and affordable agency plans
- Story Chief: Extensive integrations and multilingual support
Limitations:
- Content Studio: Potentially steep learning curve
- CoSchedule: Some advanced features limited to higher-priced plans
- OnlyWire: Basic features and analytics, lack of Instagram support
- Social Pilot: Some key features not available in lower-tier plans
- Story Chief: Lack of transparent pricing and feature information
The choice between these tools depends on your specific needs, budget, and scale of operations. For comprehensive features and scalability, Content Studio or Social Pilot might be the best options.
